Renault Scenic E-Tech Receives Early Facelift

Renault is preparing a facelift for the all-electric Scenic E-Tech, less than three years after its introduction. Recent spy shots taken in Europe reveal a camouflaged prototype, suggesting subtle design updates and potential changes under the skin. The Scenic E-Tech, which sits above the Megane in Renault’s electric vehicle lineup, is set for these revisions ahead of its expected market launch next year.

Design changes appear to focus primarily on lighting and front-end styling. The prototype shows reworked headlights, along with vertically stacked LED daytime running lights situated beneath them. While the general silhouette of the model remains familiar, tweaks to the front bumper and grille hint at a refreshed appearance, though the overall proportions and styling cues persist. At the rear, new LED taillights are anticipated, but the final design remains concealed for now. The SUV retains its signature flush door handles and distinct silver C-pillars, with no major changes visible along the sides.

On the technical front, the current Scenic E-Tech is built on Renault’s AmpR Medium architecture, also used by the Nissan Ariya and Nissan Leaf. The base version features a 168 hp electric motor paired with a 60 kWh battery, offering a range of over 418 km. A higher-performance variant delivers 215 hp and 300 Nm of torque, thanks to an 87 kWh battery, pushing range estimates beyond 610 km. Performance and battery specifications are expected to remain competitive

Reports suggest Renault may be considering a switch from LG-supplied batteries to AESC units, a change already anticipated for the Megane E-Tech. If confirmed, the updated Scenic E-Tech could adopt this new battery supplier as well, potentially impacting range and charging characteristics. However, no official details have been released regarding this possible transition.

The Scenic E-Tech competes in a fast-evolving segment, where frequent updates are becoming the norm as manufacturers strive to keep pace with advancing technology and shifting customer expectations. While the upcoming refresh appears evolutionary rather than revolutionary, it signals Renault’s intent to maintain the Scenic’s relevance against rivals and adapt to the latest developments in electric mobility.

It is noteworthy that Renault has opted for a relatively early refresh for the Scenic E-Tech, reflecting both the rapid pace of innovation in the EV sector and the increasing importance of design and battery technology as differentiators. As competition intensifies among electric SUVs, incremental updates like these can play a significant role in sustaining consumer interest and addressing fast-changing market demands. Looking ahead, the Scenic E-Tech’s evolution will be worth watching, particularly if Renault chooses to introduce new battery technology or further enhance efficiency and connectivity features to stay ahead of the curve.
