The vehicle, known as the M4 Maloo, was created by DinMann from a new 2022 BMW M4 Competition xDrive coupe. BMW has never offered a production pickup based on the M3 or M4, although it previously built limited one-off concepts. Nearly four years after the conversion was completed, the modified G82-generation M4 reached Bring a Trailer with 8,000 miles, or 12,875 km, showing on its odometer.
The $93,000 winning bid was higher than the listed prices cited for every new 2026 M4 coupe version in the source. The M4 Competition xDrive Coupe was listed at $91,700, while the regular M4 started at $82,200 and the rear-wheel-drive Competition version at $86,600. The result placed the custom pickup above the retail price of the factory model from which it was derived.
DinMann first presented the project at the 2022 SEMA show. The builder drew inspiration from BMW's 1986 E30 M3 Ute prototype and the E92 M3 Pickup created as an April Fools' project in 2011. According to the source, the M4 Maloo was completed in six weeks ahead of its SEMA appearance after DinMann bought the new coupe specifically for the conversion.
The truck has since lost the bright metallic blue wrap seen during its debut, revealing a Brooklyn Gray Metallic finish. The rear roof section and the interior trim behind it were removed to create the cargo area. A tubular steel subframe was welded beneath the custom bed, the C-pillars were reinforced, and a functioning tailgate with a carbon-fiber insert was installed.
The body conversion is paired with a carbon-fiber kit that includes a sharper front splitter, widened fenders with carbon gills, side skirts, a shortened carbon roof, and a rear diffuser surrounding four exhaust outlets. The pickup rides on lowering springs with 19-inch front and 20-inch rear M Performance forged wheels. M Compound brakes with red calipers are also retained.
Inside, the shortened cabin seats two occupants and keeps the original carbon bucket seats finished in red and black leather. A small section of the rear bench remains for carrying items. Additional carbon-fiber trim was fitted to the dashboard, door panels, center console, and steering wheel.
Power comes from the M4's twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, modified with replacement turbochargers, a carbon-fiber intake, a new exhaust system, and a recalibrated ECU. No revised output figure was provided, although the source says it exceeds the standard car's 503 hp, or 375 kW and 510 PS. Drive is sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission, BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system, and a limited-slip differential.
The source says the winning bidder appears to be Carrio Motor Cars, a Florida exotic-car dealership. It therefore suggests the one-off may return to the market, but no confirmed resale plan or asking price was provided.
