The upcoming Mercedes-AMG CLE63 will feature a V8 engine, confirming that high-performance eight-cylinder power is far from dead. According to Mercedes-Benz USA CEO Adam Chamberlain, the new CLE63 is arriving “sooner than you think,” bringing a new-generation twin-turbo V8 to the luxury coupe segment.
The CLE63 is expected to use Mercedes’ latest 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft, already seen in updated models like the S-Class, GLE, and GLS. In standard form, this engine produces around 530 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, but AMG tuning will likely push those figures significantly higher.
Mercedes-AMG is reportedly developing the CLE63 primarily for the American market, where up to 90% of global sales are expected. Executives have described the model as a “brand-shaper,” underlining its importance in maintaining AMG’s performance identity.
This CLE63 should not be mistaken for the limited-production Mythos series concept teased by Mercedes. Instead, it will be a more accessible performance model, positioned alongside other AMG vehicles in the lineup.
While exact specifications remain under wraps, the Mercedes-AMG CLE63 is expected to debut around 2027. With a powerful V8 under the hood and a strong focus on driving excitement, it promises to be one of AMG’s most anticipated future models.
