Lucid has entered the Guinness World Records book with an achievement centered on the Gravity electric SUV’s vehicle-to-load capability rather than charging speed or driving range. The record was set through an online DJ mixing video relay powered by a single Lucid Gravity, using the SUV’s built-in household outlets to supply electricity for the session.
The Gravity includes vehicle-to-load, commonly shortened to V2L, which allows energy stored in the vehicle’s high-voltage battery pack to be exported to external equipment. Lucid’s first model, the Air sedan, did not include the feature, but the company added it with the launch of the Gravity SUV. In the Gravity, three regular household outlets are positioned around the interior and can provide a combined output of 1.8 kilowatts.
Lucid used those outlets in a collaboration with Saudi Arabian electronic music duo Dish Dash. The partners organized an online DJ session in which the mixing equipment was powered by one Gravity. The event involved 61 DJs, and each participant spent eight minutes at the mixing table. The full relay continued for just over eight hours.
At the end of the session, Lucid and Dish Dash received a Guinness World Records certificate for “The most people in an online DJ mixing video relay.” The achievement did not test the Gravity’s maximum range, acceleration or charging performance. Instead, it demonstrated that the SUV’s onboard outlets could continuously support music equipment during a coordinated event involving dozens of participants.
The DJ relay was an unconventional use of V2L, since the feature is generally intended to run tools, appliances and other electrical devices. Lucid’s record attempt placed the same capability at the center of a long-form online music session. Although most Gravity owners are unlikely to repeat the event, the setup showed how energy from an electric vehicle can be used beyond propulsion.
