Hyundai Venue Knight Edition India Launch

23 Apr 2026

Hyundai has introduced the Venue Knight Edition in India, marking a significant update for its compact SUV lineup. The new variant, based on the second generation of the Venue, arrives with a distinctive black-themed design and a price point that undercuts its US counterpart by a wide margin.

Design and Features

The Indian-market Venue Knight Edition showcases a more angular and upright exterior compared to the first-generation US-spec Venue. Key design updates include a boxier silhouette, sculpted bodywork, and prominent LED lighting. The Knight Edition adopts blacked-out elements across the grille, skid plates, roof rails, mirror caps, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Matte black Hyundai badges and red brake calipers add to its sporty appearance, while the overall stance is taller and wider, giving it more presence on the road.

Inside, the Knight Edition continues the dark theme with exclusive leatherette upholstery and brass-colored accents on the dashboard and steering wheel. The dual 12.3-inch curved displays dominate the dashboard, offering a clear technological leap over the US model’s single 8-inch touchscreen. Additional features include a 360-degree camera, integrated dashcam, sunroof, reclining rear seats, rear sunshades, and an eight-speaker Bose premium audio system, positioning the Knight Edition as a well-equipped contender in its segment.

Engine Options and Technical Details

Hyundai offers the Venue Knight Edition with three non-electrified powertrains in India. The entry-level option is a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter petrol engine producing 82 bg, followed by a turbocharged 1.0-liter petrol delivering 118 bg. A 1.5-liter diesel variant generates 114 bg. For comparison, the US-spec Venue uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine rated at 121 bg. While the power outputs are closely matched, the Indian Venue offers more choice and flexibility in terms of engine configurations.

Pricing and Market Position

The Venue Knight Edition starts at 9.70 lakh INR (approximately $10,400), making it nearly half the entry price of the US-market Venue, which begins at $20,550. Even the top trim remains accessible at 14.79 lakh INR ($15,840). In India, the sportier N Line version sits just above the Knight Edition, but the pricing strategy ensures that the Knight Edition stands out as a value-focused offering with premium features.

Competitive Landscape and Evaluation

The updated Venue in India competes in a crowded compact SUV market, where price sensitivity and feature lists drive purchase decisions. The Knight Edition’s combination of technology, design, and competitive pricing strengthens Hyundai’s positioning against rivals. The second-generation Venue’s broader dimensions and enhanced equipment list place it ahead of the aging US-spec model, which continues on its original platform.

Editorial Comment

It is notable that Hyundai has chosen to offer a significantly updated Venue with modern features and bold styling cues in India, while the US market continues with the older generation. The Knight Edition’s aggressive pricing and comprehensive equipment suggest Hyundai is keenly aware of the demands of Indian consumers, who expect value without sacrificing technology or design. This strategy could serve as a blueprint for other markets, especially as compact SUVs remain a key growth segment globally. If Hyundai extends these updates beyond India, it could influence the competitive balance in other regions where buyers are increasingly discerning about what they get for their money.
