Henan Seabiscuit Mini Pickup Draws Attention as Affordable Ram TRX Tribute

26 Apr 2026

The Chinese market has introduced an unconventional alternative for pickup enthusiasts: the Henan Seabiscuit, a mini electric golf cart styled after the Ram TRX. Recently sold at auction for just $3,900, this four-seat, street-legal vehicle has generated discussion for its combination of affordability and distinctive design.

From the outside, the Henan Seabiscuit borrows heavily from the full-size Ram TRX, featuring a bluff front end, squared-off wheel arches, aggressive hood details, and a scaled-down pickup bed. The body, constructed from fiberglass, echoes the TRX’s signature profile, though the cabin only partially reflects the American truck’s interior design.

Despite its roots as a golf cart, the Seabiscuit offers amenities uncommon at its price point. Standard features include air conditioning, power windows and locks, a digital gauge cluster, and Bluetooth infotainment. These comforts are rarely seen on vehicles in this segment, especially those intended primarily for local transportation.

Technically, the Henan Seabiscuit is powered by a single 3 kW electric motor driving the rear wheels. It can achieve speeds up to 30 mph and has a range of approximately 30 miles on a single charge, making it suitable for short commutes or community use rather than serious golf or long-distance travel. While the pickup bed nods to utility, it lacks specific adaptations for golf or cargo hauling.

Reaction from auction observers was mixed. The vehicle drew criticism for visible quality issues such as chipped paint, corrosion, worn seats, and loose wiring. Nevertheless, some commenters appreciated the effort taken to scale down the TRX design into a functional, compact electric vehicle. Despite clear limitations, the Seabiscuit’s value and unique appeal set it apart from conventional used cars in the same price range.

Looking at the Henan Seabiscuit, it’s evident that China’s electric vehicle market is not afraid to experiment with bold styling and unexpected features. While this mini pickup is unlikely to compete with established brands on performance or quality, its low price and characterful design may attract urban drivers seeking a standout commuter. As electric vehicle technology becomes more accessible, similar niche interpretations could become increasingly common in global markets.
