Geely has unveiled the EVA Cab, China’s first robotaxi developed specifically for autonomous ride-hailing, at the Beijing Auto Show. Created in partnership with Afari Technology and CaoCao Mobility, the prototype previews a Level 4 autonomous vehicle slated for mass production and commercial use beginning in 2027.
The EVA Cab stands out with its distinctive design, featuring a shark-nose front, high-mounted headlights, and an integrated external messaging board. The exterior is further defined by streamlined bodywork, flush-mounted electric sliding doors, and aerodynamic wheels. A large rear spoiler and additional messaging display enhance the vehicle’s functional look, while gloss black accents and substantial greenhouse glass contribute to its modern MPV profile.
Geely has shared limited details about the EVA Cab’s interior, but the available information points to a premium and spacious environment. The cabin adopts a face-to-face seating arrangement for four passengers, with a significant central console and front seats that can fold away to maximize legroom. Notable features include a glass “Galaxy Skyroof,” a retractable display, and solid wood trim elements—features rarely seen in vehicles designed for autonomous fleets. The inclusion of an AI assistant aims to simplify interaction for passengers during their ride.
The EVA Cab is built on a new electronic and electrical architecture that Geely describes as quantum-level. It is equipped with a 2160-line digital LiDAR system, claimed to be an industry first, and supports Level 4 autonomous driving through mass-production-ready software. Three flagship processors—NVIDIA SuperChip, NVIDIA Thor U, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397—provide a combined computing power exceeding 3,000 TOPS. The LiDAR system delivers high-resolution imaging at 25.92 million points per second and can detect objects up to 600 meters away, enhancing the vehicle’s situational awareness.
With plans for commercial operations to begin next year, the EVA Cab positions Geely as a serious contender in the rapidly evolving autonomous mobility sector. The company’s focus on both passenger comfort and cutting-edge driving technology suggests a strategy to compete directly with established robotaxi players such as Uber and Waymo, as well as new entrants in the Chinese and global markets. The vehicle’s purpose-built approach could provide advantages in efficiency and passenger experience compared to converted production models.
