The 2024 Fly Wing Snake 250 EFI is being recalled in the United States after federal documents revealed that its brakes may not perform properly in wet road conditions. The issue affects 216 motorcycles built by Taizhou Qianxin Vehicle Co. Ltd.
According to a recall notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the brake pads fitted to the 2024 Fly Wing Snake 250 EFI may fail to stop the motorcycle as intended when the road is wet.
The recall covers bikes produced between February 1, 2024, and August 30, 2024, and sold in the United States. Owners are being warned that reduced braking performance in wet conditions could increase the risk of a crash.
The recall documents state that federal safety rules require wet-brake deceleration to reach at least 60 percent of the average performance recorded during a dry baseline test. This measurement is taken between 0.5 and 1.0 seconds after the brake lever is applied.
In testing, the Fly Wing Snake 250 achieved only 29.26 percent of the dry-brake baseline, which is less than half of the required minimum. That result prompted the manufacturer to identify the brake pads as defective.
Taizhou Qianxin Vehicle Co. Ltd. says the problem is linked to defective brake pads, although the recall information does not explain whether the issue is related to size, material quality or another design problem.
Retailers will replace the affected brake pads at no cost to owners. The company says the replacement pads have been tested and comply with the relevant safety standards.
The manufacturer is expected to notify owners between June 1 and June 15. Affected riders will be instructed to take their motorcycle to the nearest Fly Wing retailer for the free repair.
Until the replacement is completed, owners of the 2024 Fly Wing Snake 250 EFI should be especially cautious when riding or braking in wet weather.
