General Motors is preparing a broad five-year product expansion, and reports cited by Carscoops suggest Chevrolet could use that program to revive the Camaro as a four-door performance flagship. The proposal would move the nameplate away from its traditional two-door coupe format and reposition it as a fastback sedan designed to sit below the Corvette range.
Carscoops contributing writer and illustrator Josh Byrnes created a design study showing how such a model might look. Rather than closely copying the previous Camaro, the rendering uses a cleaner shape with a thin, full-width LED light bar above a hexagonal grille. Sculpted lower sections give the front end a low and planted appearance.
The side profile is defined by a sweeping fastback roofline that flows into a short rear deck. The illustration also includes an aero blade on the front fenders, deeply sculpted doors, pronounced rear haunches and muscular body surfacing. At the rear, three-part ovoid LED taillights sit within a gloss-black panel, while a large diffuser, four exhaust outlets and vertical air vents complete the concept.
A four-door layout would give the proposed Camaro more usable rear seating and a larger liftback cargo area than the coupe format associated with the name. The article suggests that a performance-focused cabin could draw inspiration from Chevrolet products including the Corvette, Equinox and Blazer EV, with a curved digital instrument display and a wide central infotainment screen.
Carscoops also expects GM’s Google-based software, integrated navigation and AI-powered voice control to feature in such a model. The article argues that Chevrolet would need to reconsider GM’s approach to omitting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Heavily bolstered seats, premium materials and selectable performance modes are presented as likely ingredients for a grand touring role, although no production interior has been shown.
GM has not disclosed mechanical details for a four-door Camaro. Carscoops proposes that an evolution of the rear-wheel-drive Alpha platform used by the Cadillac CT5 could provide a foundation. Under that scenario, entry versions might use a 270 hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder or a 360 hp 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with mild-hybrid assistance.
The same report imagines SS and ZL1 versions with V8 power. Its most powerful proposal uses the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing’s supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8, rated at 668 hp, 498 kW and 659 lb-ft, or 893 Nm. The article also suggests a 10-speed automatic transmission with line lock and launch control across the range, plus a six-speed manual for eight-cylinder models. These specifications remain part of the publication’s scenario rather than confirmed Chevrolet plans.
If approved, a four-door Camaro could overlap with the Cadillac CT5 inside GM’s portfolio and face the long-rumored Ford Mustang Mach-4 sedan. Carscoops also identifies the BMW 5-Series and Audi A6 as possible rivals. For now, Chevrolet has not confirmed the model, its design, platform, engines or production timing, leaving the rendering as an exploration of how the Camaro name could fit into GM’s wider product expansion.
