A dramatic police chase unfolded in California last Thursday when a woman allegedly stole a traffic management pickup, complete with flashing arrow board, and led law enforcement on a pursuit across two major freeways. The incident concluded when a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer, positioned behind a concrete barrier, successfully deployed spike strips to halt the fleeing vehicle.
The chase began in the morning hours as the suspect reportedly took possession of a white pickup truck used by traffic authorities. The vehicle was still equipped with its arrow board, actively flashing, and carried construction equipment and orange cones in its bed. This made the truck highly visible as it entered the 5 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley, later continuing onto the 14 Freeway towards Santa Clarita.
Officers from the CHP Antelope Valley division quickly joined the pursuit, tracking the truck as it traversed busy freeway sections. Video footage released by CHP shows a highway patrol officer waiting behind a concrete crash barrier; as the stolen pickup approached, the officer threw spike strips across the lane, directly in the truck’s path. The device effectively punctured at least one tire, drastically reducing the vehicle’s mobility.

ving briefly before stopping near the border of Kern and Los Angeles County. According to local media, the woman complied with police orders, throwing the keys out of the window before being taken into custody. Authorities have yet to provide details regarding the motive for the theft.

The flashing arrow board and visible construction equipment may have drawn additional attention from both the public and law enforcement, making the chase more conspicuous and easier to track.
