Audi Q4 E-Tron Updated Interior and Features

27 Apr 2026

Audi has introduced an extensive update to its Q4 E-Tron electric SUV and its Sportback variant, focusing on both interior enhancements and technical improvements. The refreshed models now feature a redesigned cabin, improved charging capabilities, and the brand’s first bidirectional charging system. Some physical controls have returned, while others have been removed entirely, reflecting Audi’s shifting approach to user interfaces.

The most visible changes are inside the vehicle. The Q4 E-Tron now comes with a panoramic display setup, combining an 11.9-inch digital instrument panel and a 12.8-inch central touchscreen. For added convenience, a 12-inch passenger display is available as an option, and the system features ChatGPT integration. Materials inside the cabin have been upgraded, with softer surfaces and new ambient lighting, targeting previous customer feedback about interior quality. The center console has also been redesigned for better ergonomics, and wireless charging has been improved with two cooled 15-watt pads.

On the technical side, Audi has introduced a revised rear motor, advanced power electronics, and a lower-friction transmission oil, leading to around 10 percent improved efficiency. The Q4 Sportback E-Tron now boasts a WLTP range of up to 367 miles (591 km) in its highest-spec version. Charging speeds have increased, with the 82 kWh battery supporting up to 185 kW, reducing the 10 to 80 percent charging window to approximately 27 minutes. However, this still lags behind some competitors, such as the Genesis GV60, which offers faster charging rates.

The base Q4 E-Tron, powered by a 201 hp single rear motor and a 59 kWh battery, gains an additional 18 miles of range, now totaling 263 miles (424 km) on a charge. Mid-spec and top-line v

ariants retain rear-wheel and all-wheel drive options, with the highest trim offering 335 hp and Quattro exclusively. Towing capacity is also improved, as Quattro versions now can pull up to 1,800 kg, a 400 kg increase from the previous model.

In terms of practicality, the new Q4 E-Tron introduces bidirectional charging, enabling the vehicle to supply power back to homes in select European markets, which is especially useful for solar energy storage. The luggage compartment offers 520 litres, which expands to 1,490 litres with the rear seats folded, and an electric tailgate is now standard. Despite the technological advancements, Audi has made a controversial choice by removing physical climate controls, integrating these functions into screen menus, while reintroducing traditional scroll wheels on the steering wheel in response to customer feedback about touch-sensitive controls.

Editorial comment: Audi’s latest update to the Q4 E-Tron addresses loveral critical points raised by customers since the model’s debut. The return of tactile controls on the steering wheel indicates a willingness to listen to feedback, though the removal of physical climate controls may frustrate some users who prefer immediate access. The introduction of bidirectional charging and improved range positions the Q4 E-Tron competitively within the electric SUV segment, although charging speeds still fall short of segment leaders. With enhanced interior quality and new tech features, the Q4 E-Tron is better equipped for both daily usability and long-distance travel. Whether these changes will be enough to challenge rivals from Genesis and Tesla will depend on how buyers react to the evolving balance between digital and physical interfaces in premium electric vehicles.
