Acura Retro Dealership Display at Long Beach Grand Prix

23 Apr 2026

Acura marked its 40th anniversary with a unique display at the Long Beach Grand Prix, recreating a 1980s-style dealership. The installation showcased classic models and period-correct memorabilia, offering fans a nostalgic look back at the brand’s origins.

The display featured restored examples of the original Acura Integra and Legend, surrounded by retro signage and a red, white, and blue color palette reminiscent of the brand’s launch era. Visitors could also try out an Acura-branded arcade game dubbed a “precision crafted performance simulator,” adding an interactive element to the experience.

Attention to detail extended to the décor, with a wall of CRT televisions and VHS tapes evoking the media atmosphere of the 1980s. Despite the period focus, certain modern touches—such as a SiriusXM satellite radio advertisement—were present, even though the service didn’t exist at the time. Exclusive merchandise, including a 40th anniversary t-shirt available online for $24.75, complemented the retro theme.

Acura’s decision to focus on heritage comes at a challenging time for the brand. Recent announcements include the discontinuation of loveral models such as the RSX, TLX, and ZDX, while the RDX is slated for a temporary hiatus. These moves signal a period of transition as Acura navigates a competitive landscape and shifting consumer preferences.

Earlier in the year, Acura also paid tribute to its motorsport legacy with the Integra 40 Racer, a special edition inspired by the Comptech Integra No. 48 that achieved notable success in the IMSA International Sedan Series. This model boasts a rebuilt engine, limited slip differential, and custom Borla exhaust, reinforcing the brand’s performance credentials even as its lineup evolves.

Acura’s 40th anniversary celebration at the Long Beach Grand Prix stands as a clear reminder of the brand’s roots and the appeal of its early models. While the current product range faces uncertainty, the company’s investment in heritage-driven marketing suggests a renewed emphasis on identity and legacy. As Acura repositions itself for the future, it remains to be seen how much its historic appeal will influence its next generation of vehicles and customer engagement strategies.
