2027 Volvo EX60 Is Cheaper Than XC60 Plug-In Hybrid

21 May 2026

The 2027 Volvo EX60 is now officially available to order in the United States, and its pricing puts it in an interesting position inside Volvo’s own lineup. The new electric crossover starts below the XC60 plug-in hybrid, while every announced EX60 version offers more than 300 miles of driving range on a full charge.

2027 Volvo EX60 Starts From $59,795

The new Volvo EX60 starts at $59,795 for the entry-level P6 Plus version. At the top of the currently available lineup, the P10 AWD Ultra is priced from $68,745. A more powerful and longer-range P12 AWD version will join the range later, although it is not yet on sale in the U.S.

This makes the EX60 more expensive than the regular gasoline-powered XC60, which has long been Volvo’s best-selling model. However, the electric EX60 undercuts the XC60 plug-in hybrid, creating a notable price overlap for buyers already committed to the Volvo brand.

EX60 Undercuts The XC60 Plug-In Hybrid

The Volvo XC60 plug-in hybrid starts from $63,940 and rises to $74,840 for the Black Edition model. By comparison, the EX60 gives buyers a fully electric alternative with a lower starting price and significantly more electric driving range than the XC60 PHEV’s 35-mile electric range.

That difference could matter for customers who want a Volvo crossover but are ready to move beyond a plug-in hybrid. Instead of short electric-only driving capability, the EX60 offers long-range battery-electric performance across the lineup.

Base P6 Plus Offers 307 Miles Of Range

The entry-level EX60 P6 Plus uses a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 369 hp. Volvo estimates this version can travel 307 miles on a full charge, making range far less of a concern than in the plug-in hybrid XC60.

The P6 Plus can charge at up to 320 kW through its native Tesla-style NACS charging port. According to Volvo, it can add up to 155 miles of range in 10 minutes, while a 10-80 percent charge takes 16 minutes.

Standard Equipment Includes Google Tech And Bose Audio

Even the base EX60 comes with a strong list of standard features. Highlights include a 15-inch OLED central touchscreen running Volvo’s latest Google-based infotainment system with Gemini AI assistant integration.

The P6 Plus also includes a 21-speaker Bose sound system and Volvo’s Safe Space Technology suite, which brings together a broad range of active and passive safety features.

Ultra Trim Adds Luxury Equipment

Customers can upgrade to the Ultra trim for an additional $6,600. This version adds unique badging, ventilated Nappa leather upholstery, a 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system and a dimmable electrochromic panoramic glass roof.

The Ultra trim also includes integrated heated booster seats in the second row, reinforcing Volvo’s family-focused approach to the EX60.

P10 AWD Brings 503 HP And Faster Charging

The 2027 Volvo EX60 P10 AWD starts from $62,145. This version uses two electric motors, one on each axle, producing a combined 503 hp and giving the crossover all-wheel drive.

The P10 AWD also supports higher DC fast-charging power of up to 370 kW. When connected to a sufficiently powerful charger, it can add up to 165 miles of range in 10 minutes. Its 10-80 percent charging time remains 16 minutes, matching the entry-level P6.

P12 AWD Will Offer Up To 400 Miles

The future EX60 P12 AWD will sit above the current lineup with more power and more range. Volvo says this version will offer a maximum driving range of 400 miles.

Although its peak charging power remains 370 kW, the P12 AWD will be able to add up to 173 miles of range in 10 minutes. Its 10-80 percent charging time will be 19 minutes.

BMW iX3 And Tesla Model Y Remain Key Rivals

The EX60 enters a competitive electric SUV segment. The BMW iX3 starts from $62,850, comes with dual-motor all-wheel drive and has an EPA-rated range of 434 miles. The upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLC EV will also compete in the same premium space.

At the lower end of the market, the Tesla Model Y remains a more affordable alternative. That means Volvo will need to rely on premium positioning, charging performance, safety technology and brand loyalty to make the EX60 stand out.

Why The EX60 Matters For Volvo

The XC60 has been one of Volvo’s most important models for years, but the EX60 could become the brand’s next key volume product as more buyers move toward fully electric crossovers.

By pricing the EX60 below the XC60 plug-in hybrid while offering more than 300 miles of range, Volvo is making a direct case for skipping the PHEV step entirely. For buyers who want a premium electric family SUV with fast charging and long range, the EX60 now looks like one of Volvo’s most important new models.
