The 2027 Volkswagen ID. Buzz is returning to the U.S. lineup after skipping the 2026 model year, bringing new trims, software improvements, updated styling choices and one major feature owners had been asking for: true one-pedal driving.
Volkswagen will bring the ID. Buzz back for model year 2027 in the United States after the electric minivan skipped MY2026. According to the source, Volkswagen Group of America CEO Kjell Gruner previously explained that the 2025 model arrived late, meaning a 2026 version would have had only a short production run.
The returning 2027 model will be offered with a simplified four-trim lineup: Pro S RWD, Pro S 4Motion, Tourer 4Motion and Pro S Plus 4Motion. The Pro S 4Motion and Tourer 4Motion are new additions to the U.S. range.
The biggest lifestyle-focused addition is the new ID. Buzz Tourer 4Motion, a trim aimed at buyers who want a more camping-friendly electric van straight from the factory.
This version includes a fold-out mattress and platform, window blinds, ventilation panels, and an “Overnight Mode” that allows the high-voltage battery to power features such as climate control while the vehicle is switched off. Volkswagen will also include a folding table and chair set.
One of the most important updates for 2027 is the addition of true one-pedal driving. This allows the ID. Buzz to slow down and come to a complete stop using regenerative braking without the driver needing to press the brake pedal in normal driving conditions.
The previous U.S.-market ID. Buzz did not offer full one-pedal driving, which was considered a notable omission for an electric vehicle in this class.
The 2027 ID. Buzz also receives Volkswagen’s latest ID.S 6 software. The update brings an improved infotainment experience, including a revised navigation screen layout and a new vehicle settings page designed to make key functions easier to access.
An updated App Store is also included, allowing owners to download third-party apps such as YouTube and Spotify.
Volkswagen is also leaning further into the ID. Buzz’s retro-inspired personality. For 2027, the electric minivan will only be offered with dual-tone paint schemes.
A new Candy White over Cherry Red color combination joins the range, while white wheels inspired by the classic Type 2 microbus will also be available.
Volkswagen has not released pricing for the 2027 ID. Buzz. The previous 2025 model started at $60,000 before destination charges.
The source notes that bringing the price closer to the low-$50,000 range could make the ID. Buzz more appealing, especially in the U.S. market, where demand has been weaker than in other regions.
