Hyundai Motor Group is preparing to roll out its new Pleos Connect infotainment system, a software platform designed for the next generation of Hyundai, Kia and Genesis vehicles. The system will debut next month and is expected to reach around 20 million vehicles by 2030.
Pleos Connect represents a major step forward for Hyundai Motor Group’s in-car software strategy. The new setup centers around a large central touchscreen that can be divided into three separate areas for driver assistance visuals, navigation and media controls.
The main display also includes a lower virtual control bar and a speed readout positioned in the upper left corner, creating an interface layout that will feel familiar to drivers used to modern EV cabins.
However, Hyundai has not fully abandoned traditional controls. Unlike some screen-only approaches, Pleos Connect-equipped vehicles will also feature a smaller digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. A row of physical buttons beneath the main display will provide quick access to functions such as seat heating, cabin temperature and volume.
The new infotainment system will also support Hyundai Motor Group’s proprietary App Market. Drivers will be able to download selected applications directly to the vehicle, with YouTube and Spotify already confirmed as native apps. More apps are expected to be added over time.
This move shows Hyundai’s broader ambition to make its vehicles more connected and software-driven, rather than relying only on smartphone mirroring or traditional embedded navigation systems.
At the heart of Pleos Connect is Gleo AI, Hyundai Motor Group’s in-house voice assistant. The AI-based assistant can control multiple vehicle functions, process more than one command at a time and deliver responses based on conversation context and driving conditions.
One of the system’s more advanced features is its ability to detect where a command is coming from inside the cabin. For example, a front passenger can ask for seat heating without needing to specify that the command applies to the passenger seat.
Hyundai says future versions of Gleo AI will integrate with more apps, helping users find favorite locations, discover new destinations and receive more personalized suggestions based on their preferences.
The first model scheduled to receive Pleos Connect will be the redesigned Hyundai Grandeur, which is set to debut in Korea next month. After that, the new Hyundai Ioniq 3 electric vehicle will introduce the system in Europe, with additional markets and models expected to follow.
Changsub Kim, Senior Research Engineer in Hyundai Motor Group’s UX Strategy Team, said Pleos Connect was developed around customer mobility experiences and that the company will continue refining the system after launch based on user feedback.
With Pleos Connect, Hyundai Motor Group is trying to strike a balance between large digital displays, useful physical controls and AI-powered convenience. If the rollout reaches the planned scale, the system could become one of the most important software upgrades across Hyundai, Kia and Genesis vehicles before the end of the decade.
