The Rivian R2 configurator is now live, giving reservation holders and potential buyers their clearest look yet at the electric SUV’s pricing, trims, colors, options and estimated availability. The tool also reveals that some of the most desirable configurations and paint choices will require a longer wait.
Rivian has activated the official configurator for the R2, allowing customers to build their preferred version of the upcoming electric SUV. The configurator shows available trims, equipment packages, interior choices, wheel options, estimated range figures and expected rollout timing.
The R2 has already attracted major interest, with the source citing more than 200,000 reported reservations. Customer invitations to configure the vehicle are expected to begin in June on a rolling basis, while deliveries have already started for Rivian employees.
Early reservation holders who want an R2 at launch will be able to choose the R2 Performance with Launch Package. This version starts at $57,990 and includes Autonomy+, the Tow Package, a special key fob and access to the Launch Green paint option.
A fully equipped R2 Performance with the Launch Package is listed at $62,745. Paint colors other than silver cost between $1,000 and $2,000, depending on the selected finish.
The configurator also shows that not every color will be available from the start. Forest Green is scheduled for late 2026, while Rivian’s Borealis purple paint, available only on the Performance trim, is not expected until 2027.
Rivian’s Dark interior is standard. Buyers who prefer a brighter cabin will be able to select the Coastal Cloud interior for $1,000 when it becomes available for ordering later this year. However, that lighter interior option will not be offered on the Standard trim.
The Rivian R2 Standard starts at $48,490, while the Premium trim starts at $53,990. All-wheel drive is standard on the Premium, but it costs an additional $3,500 on the Standard model.
Adding all-wheel drive to the R2 Standard reduces estimated range from 345 miles to 330 miles. It also unlocks the Tow Package, which is offered as a $950 option.
The R2 Standard comes with 19-inch wheels, but buyers can upgrade to 20-inch bi-color carbon wheels for $1,000. The Premium trim can be upgraded to 21-inch Liquid Tungsten wheels for $2,000.
Performance trim buyers can switch from the standard 21-inch wheels to 20-inch Black Sand wheels with 32-inch BF Goodrich all-terrain tires for an additional $1,000. Rivian will also offer a compact spare package with a jack and wheel chocks for $755, and the spare has a dedicated storage location in the rear hatch.
Rivian also allows buyers to add the Autonomy+ package for $2,500. However, the source notes that Rivian is not currently shipping vehicles with its lidar package and does not plan to retrofit it later.
According to the source, R2 production started about three weeks before the article was published. Rivian expects to build between 20,000 and 25,000 R2 SUVs at its Normal, Illinois plant by the end of 2026.
The company’s upcoming Georgia factory is planned to have an annual production capacity of around 300,000 vehicles, giving Rivian a much larger manufacturing footprint as the R2 ramps up.
The launch of the Rivian R2 configurator gives buyers a much better idea of what the electric SUV will cost in real-world configurations. It also confirms that some versions, colors and cabin options will arrive later than others, meaning early buyers may need to choose between getting an R2 sooner or waiting for their ideal specification.
