The new Lexus ES EV will launch in the UK in June as an all-electric luxury sedan, starting from £59,345. Positioned against rivals like the Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series, the eighth-generation ES will be offered exclusively with electric power in the UK, delivering up to 329 miles of range and a strong focus on comfort and refinement.
While Western Europe will receive both hybrid and electric versions, Lexus has opted for a fully electric lineup in the UK. This decision reflects the country’s stronger EV adoption rates, making combustion and hybrid variants unnecessary for this market.
The UK range will initially feature the front-wheel-drive ES 350e. It uses a single electric motor producing 221bhp, paired with a 77kWh battery. Lexus targets a range of around 329 miles on a full charge, although official WLTP figures are yet to be confirmed. Acceleration from 0-62mph takes 8.2 seconds, positioning it as a refined cruiser rather than a performance-focused sedan.
Order books open on 1 May, with three trim levels available. The entry-level Premium starts at £59,345, followed by Premium Plus at £68,245, and the range-topping Takumi at £72,545. Higher trims add luxury features such as heated, ventilated, and reclining rear seats, emphasizing the ES’s focus on passenger comfort.
A more powerful ES 500e variant is expected to join the UK lineup later. Already confirmed for Europe, this dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version produces 338bhp and accelerates from 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds. However, its range will be lower than the 350e due to increased performance.
The new ES introduces a completely redesigned cabin with a minimalist layout influenced by modern Chinese-market trends. Physical buttons are largely eliminated, replaced by a central 12.3-inch touchscreen that controls most vehicle functions. Subtle haptic switches sit beneath the display, illuminating when the car is powered on, blending clean design with usability.
Built on Lexus’s GA-K platform, shared with the NX SUV, the new ES benefits from increased structural rigidity. Lexus claims significant improvements in ride quality, cabin quietness, and overall refinement. Despite its larger footprint—now measuring 5.14 meters in length, up by 165mm—the sedan is engineered to feel agile and responsive on the road.
