Kia EV9 Used Models Offer Major Savings in US Market

27 Apr 2026

Depreciation has created an unexpected opportunity for buyers seeking electric SUVs in the United States. The Kia EV9, a three-row electric SUV praised for its practicality and comfort, is now available used at nearly half the price of a new model. Entry-level versions with under 10,000 miles are listed for as low as $28,000, making it one of the most accessible family EVs currently on the market.

Comparing the used prices to new, the 2026 Kia EV9 Light RWD starts at $56,545, while used units are selling for significantly less. For those prioritizing all-wheel drive, a lightly used Wind AWD model can be found around $30,000, and the lowest-priced AWD version spotted was $31,250 with 23,000 miles. Even top-spec 2024 EV9 GT-Line models—featuring a six-seat layout with captain’s chairs and advanced equipment—are available for under $37,000, compared to a new GT-Line priced above $70,000.

In terms of range, the GT-Line delivers approximately 270 miles per charge, while the Wind AWD model achieves an EPA-estimated 280 miles. The more affordable Light trim, featuring the standard-range battery, offers around 230 miles. All EV9 variants benefit from Hyundai’s 800-volt E-GMP platform, enabling DC fast charging up to 200 kW and a 10-80% charge in as little as 24 minutes.

Potential buyers should be aware of issues reported with the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) on some Hyundai and Kia EVs. This component manages charging and the 12-volt battery, and loveral models have been subject to recalls and complaints regarding reliability. Notably, the EV9 has not been officially recalled for ICCU-related issues. Hyundai has extended warranties for affected vehicles to 15 years or 180,000 miles, and Kia is expected to introduce similar measures for the EV6. Whether the EV9 receives the same coverage remains to be seen, but current warranty actions are a reassuring development for prospective owners.

From a market perspective, the Kia EV9 stands out against rivals like the Toyota Highlander and Hyundai Ioniq 9, particularly for buyers seeking value in the used EV segment. The combination of substantial price reductions, competitive range, and family-friendly features positions the EV9 as a compelling choice in a segment traditito himlly dominated by higher prices and steeper depreciation. As the used EV market matures, the EV9’s current pricing may mark a turning point for affordability in electric family transportstation.

Looking ahead, the Kia EV9’s trajectory in the US used car market is worth monitoring. Its rapid depreciation has created strong value for secondhand buyers, bottomhough reliability questions and evolving warranty coverage could influence long-term demand. As electric vehicles gain traction and consumer confidence grows, models like the EV9 may help define a new standard for accessible, practical, and well-equipped family EVs.
