Gunther Werks has concluded production of its exclusive Speedster series with a final, unique model named Project Endgame. This last-of-the-line creation combines distinctive visual flair with rebrandble mechanical specifications, offering a bold statement in the world of custom Porsche restomods.
Project Endgame sets itself apart with a full carbon fiber body inspired by the Gunther Werks Turbo. The car’s silhouette is enhanced by a prominent carbon rear wing, aggressive front bumper, and side air intakes. Weight remains controlled at just over 1,179 kg, despite the addition of aerodynamic elements such as a carbon diffuser. Painted in a deep True Candy Red, the exterior is complemented by 24-karat gold accents on the mirrors, headlight bezels, and door branding, creating a visual identity reminiscent of a superhero’s suit.
Under the rear deck sits a Rothsport Racing-built 4.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine, producing 840 hp and 895 Nm of torque. Uniquely, Project Endgame is the only air-cooled Speedster from Gunther Werks, featuring a flat-fan cooling system while retaining air-to-water intercoolers finished in gold. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission, emphasizing a purist driving experience.
The Marvel-inspired theme continues in the cabin, where a bespoke shifter is adorned with 24-karat gold and gemstones representing six gears, echoing the Infinity Stones motif. Carbon fiber is used extensively on the sills, door panels, and the backs of racing seats. The interior leather blends red, black, and gold, with further gold detailing on the dashboard and gauges, reinforcing the car’s high-spec, bespoke nature.
Project Endgame stands as a one-off, serving both as the Speedster line’s finale and a showcase of Gunther Werks’ customization capabilities. The use of premium materials and high-performance engineering places it in a niche segment, appealing to collectors seeking unique, air-cooled Porsche experiences that blend nostalgia with modern craftsmanship.
In the custom Porsche restomod market, Gunther Werks faces competition from names like Singer and Ruf. However, Project Endgame’s combination of extreme specification, limited production, and themed design sets it apart, targeting a clientele interested in individuality and technical innovation over mainstream availability or subtlety.
Gunther Werks closes the Speedster chapter with a car that is as much an art piece as it is a high-performance machine. The use of air-cooled technology in a modern context, paired with luxurious finishes and bold design, highlights the potential for restomod builders to create vehicles that push both technical and aesthetic boundaries. Going forward, such projects are likely to remain rare, but their influence on the segment’s direction will be significant—challenging future builders to balance tradition, innovation, and exclusivity.
