Eric Stafford’s fascination with cars started before he could even walk. Growing up, he dreamed of becoming a millionaire with a car collection similar to Jay Leno’s. While financial success didn’t come as easily as expected, Stafford found his true calling in automotive journalism, turning his passion into a profession.
After earning a journalism degree from Central Michigan University, Stafford began working at a daily newspaper. His journey included years of investing time and money into project cars—many of which didn’t go as planned. However, those experiences ultimately paved the way for his role at Car and Driver, where he now writes news, reviews, and feature stories.
Stafford’s personal garage reflects his enthusiasm for diverse and characterful vehicles. His collection includes a 2010 Acura RDX, a manual 1997 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, and a 1990 Honda CRX Si—each representing a different era and driving experience.
