The all-electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door appears to have been shown ahead of schedule after a preview video briefly surfaced online. The upcoming sedan will be AMG’s first ground-up EV and is expected to challenge the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT with a high-output three-motor setup, dramatic styling, and a performance-focused driving experience.
The new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door is due to make its official debut shortly, but a deleted video from YouTuber MercBenzKing appears to have revealed the car before Mercedes intended. Although the nearly 10-minute clip was quickly removed, a captured thumbnail gave an early look at the fully electric AMG sedan without camouflage.
This model is significant because it will be the first electric vehicle developed from the ground up by AMG, rather than a performance version of an existing Mercedes EV.
The leaked image shows a low, sleek sedan with a large blacked-out front grille dominating the nose. A narrow opening sits just below the hood, likely helping with airflow and cooling. The headlights feature a distinctive shape and include Three-Pointed Star daytime running lights.
Compared with the combustion-powered AMG GT 4-Door, the new electric version takes a very different visual direction. The front end is more futuristic, although its large grille and rounded lower section may divide opinion.
Beyond the front fascia, the sedan has a flowing roofline that gives it a coupe-like profile. The leaked view also shows black mirror caps, flush-fitting door handles, black wheels with red outer accents, and red brake calipers.
These details suggest Mercedes-AMG wants the car to retain a strong performance identity despite its fully electric powertrain.
The electric AMG GT 4-Door is expected to use three advanced Yasa axial-flux electric motors. While Mercedes has not confirmed the final output in the source material, the system is likely to produce more than 1,000 hp, giving the sedan the performance needed to compete directly with high-end versions of the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT.
The car will also use a large battery pack, although capacity and range figures have not yet been detailed in the source.
Mercedes-AMG is also working to make its first dedicated EV feel more engaging from behind the wheel. Recent testing videos suggest the sedan will feature a V8-inspired artificial soundtrack and simulated gear changes, similar in concept to the approach used by the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.
This shows AMG is trying to preserve some of the character associated with its combustion models, even as the brand moves into a new electric era.
The new GT 4-Door will not be AMG’s only dedicated EV. According to the source, an all-electric AMG SUV will follow, expanding the performance brand’s electric lineup beyond sedans and coupes.
For now, the electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door is shaping up to be the brand’s most important EV performance statement yet, combining dramatic design, advanced motor technology, and a deliberately emotional AMG driving character.
